Any non-resident who tries to board a plane with a base rate ticket will now be charged an additional US$ 178.50 by the airline. Any agency who issues a base rate flight ticket for a non-resident will also be fined, as non-residents will now only be allowed access to higher fares on routes within Peru.

Not great news for tourism, however, the spectre of terrorism attacks in Peru, from Marxist activists of the Sendero Luminoso cannot be completely put to one side. Although their leader Abimael Guzman is serving a life prison sentence, the movement that started in the early 1980's was never entirely silenced, and now with the advent of new technologies, they have set up an online blog to spread their revolutionary ideas.

Arequipa is the second most important city of Peru, where thousands of tourists go every year for tourism. It is a historic city, also called the “White City” because most of the buildings where built of sillar, a white volcanic rock. There are 3 volcanos near to this important city, but only one, the Misti can be seen from anywhere of Arequipa.

Libertador Hotels has announced the expansion of their empire with a new hotel being built in The Sacred Valley in partnership with Starwood.
The company is currently undergoing an important development and renovation program.
As part of its strategic alliance with Starwood Hotels & Resorts, Libertador will be opening brand new properties during the next two years.
The Sacred Valley, located between Cusco and Machu Picchu, will see the opening of the first Luxury Collection hotel in Peru, currently under construction.
Cusco's Libertador Hotel, the flagship of the group, will also form part of the Luxury Collection once its renovation is completed.
Lima will be the location for South America's first Westin Hotel.
South of Lima, on the beautiful coastline of Paracas, the first Peruvian luxury resort & spa is also under construction.
Entertainment News
Peruvian film The Milk of Sorrow has won the Berlin Film Festival's coveted Golden Bear award for best picture.
The first Peruvian film in the festival's main competition, it tells the story of a young woman who was born of her mother's rape in the 1980s.
It beat hotly-tipped The Messenger, starring Woody Harrelson, and My One and Only, with Renee Zellweger.
The runner-up Silver Bear was shared by Uruguay's Gigante and Germany's Everyone Else.
"This is beautiful... this is such an honour," said The Milk of Sorrow's director, Claudia Llosa, on receiving the award.
"This is for Peru. This is for our country.".
Eco Spotlight
Naturalists and travellers have likened a trip from the shore of the Pacific Ocean across the highlands of Peru and down into the rainforest as similar to a journey from the equatorial line to the poles, taking in every natural reserve that the Earth has to offer. This is completely true, because Peru has 84 of 104 available life zones of the planet (Holdridge) and 28 kinds of climate from a total of 32 (Thornwaite) on Earth !
Peru has probably the most diverse array of wildlife of any country on earth, its varied ecological area spans an incredible range of climate and terrain.
The National Parks of Peru are representative examples of the natural diversity and the ecological unities of the country. In these Parks, the ecological integrity of one or more ecosystems, the wild fauna and flora area protected.
